Liz Tierney makes about 100 cookies on a weekend, and leaves them in one of the Little Free Libraries near her home. She began after being laid off from her job when “she spent a lot of time thinking about what she could do to make the world a better place.” A few years later, the cookies are usually gone in minutes. A neighbor says it is a nice influence on the community and sometimes the response is overwhelming with lines down the street. Liz never realized the impact the simple act of making cookies would have on the community. And it had an impact on Liz, too, who says, “I underestimated what it would do for me. I’m meeting neighbors I didn’t know. I am connecting with people deeper than I have before. I take walks and say hi to people that I’ve never known before.”
